How to Resolve a Scheme Rule Violation (Level 1 & 2)
What is a Scheme Rule Violation?
A scheme rule violation happens when an account receives more money than its current KYC level allows. Every KYC level comes with a limit on how much money an account can receive. If the money coming in goes above that limit, an automatic PND (Post No Debit) restriction is placed on the account.
This guide covers Level 1 cases, where the money received into the account has gone above the Level 1 KYC limit.
How is it resolved?
The good news is that upgrading the account to the right KYC level resolves most cases. Once the upgrade is successful, the PND is lifted automatically. In a few cases, the PND is not lifted after the upgrade, and the issue will need to be escalated. You can find guidance on this in the escalation sections below.
Step-by-step guide: How the customer can resolve this
- Open your Moniepoint personal or business app and log in to your account.
- On the dashboard, locate and click on the menu icon in the top left corner.
- Click on the "UPGRADE NOW" button. You will see your current KYC level and the steps required to reach the next level.
- Select "Continue Upgrade."
- Follow the prompts to upload the necessary documents. This may include identification documents, proof of address, and other relevant information.
- If an exception is raised during the process, a "Fix Now" option will appear. Click on "Fix Now" and follow the prompts to resolve the flagged issue before proceeding.
- Once you have provided all the required documents, submit your request.
- Most upgrade processes are automatic, so the upgrade takes effect immediately. Where a review is necessary, our KYC team will review your request promptly.
- Once the upgrade is successful, the PND on the account is lifted automatically, and the customer can carry on using their account as normal.
If "Fix Now" does not work
If the customer encounters a "Fix Now" situation and the fix still fails after they have attempted it, please escalate the issue under Unable to Upgrade to Level 2.
If the upgrade succeeds but the PND is not lifted
In some cases, the PND remains on the account even after a successful upgrade. If this happens, please escalate the issue under Scheme Rule Violation Not Lifted After Upgrade (Level 2 & 3).
